2021 HCDJ 1st edition in excellent condition. "Probably the question I am asked more often than any other is: Do you honestly believe there is hope for our world? For the future of our children and grandchildren? And I am able to answer truthfully, yes."-Jane Goodall. In this urgent book, Jane Goodall, the world's most famous living naturalist, and Douglas Abrams, the internationally bestselling co-author of The Book of Joy, explore through intimate and thought-provoking dialogue one of the most sought after and least understood elements of human nature: hope. Jane focuses on her "Four Reasons for Hope": The Amazing Human Intellect, The Resilience of Nature, The Power of Young People, and The Indomitable Human Spirit. There is still hope, and this book will help guide us to it.
From recent Amazon/GoodReads reviews: "Jane is such an icon for the environmental movement. The book is framed more like an interview and her co-author, the interviewer, asked some great and insightful questions. I loved Jane's approach and view towards the ecological crisis our planet (and we all) face. I did have mixed feelings throughout the book. On one hand, I see the value for hope. And I embrace it myself. On the other, a part of me remains so pessimistic about our environmental future. In a sense, it almost felt like Jane was naïve - even though I know she's an incredible and knowledgeable conservationist and has seen so much more than me! I wish I could bottle up some of that hopeful spirit so I can tap into it on darker days. Overall, it was a great read. At times sobering but well-balanced with some beautiful anecdotes from Jane's life and people she's met that reflects the message of the book. If anything, one thing I am left with is the notion that hope is *active*, so we must channel it into action."; "A very necessary book."
