1987 PB. As the British fight a desperate battle against the WWII German forces in Egypt, civilians Guy and Harriet Pringle continue their personal struggle with their marriage.
From recent Amazon/GoodReads reviews: "This is a large series, following on from the Balkans Trilogy (which I liked a little better, but this is still excellent). Harriet and Guy are now in the middle east (Egypt, Syria, Lebannon and Palestine are visited in the story). They go through a range of adventures, meet lots of strange Brits abroad, and we find out more about them and their marriage. The series provides a really interesting view from non-combatants in WW2 outside the usual spots for these stories. I thoroughly recommend both trilogies."; "Still a brilliant read after all these years. I loved this all-consuming saga of WWII years ago. Now, returning to it, I found it just as fascinating and tragic, while still full of hope and entertaining. One of the great ones. Highly recommended."; "A fitting follow up to The Balkan Trilogy. I read The Balkan Trilogy 40+ years ago. Then, after viewing the televised series, I decided to re-read that and followed up with The Levant Trilogy. I will now re-watch the TV series to bed it all down."
