What is 10%OFF$20? Once you have at least $20 of items in your cart, the cart will start showing a 10% Discount off your entire cart subtotal. Any additional books you add to your cart before you check out will also be discounted 10%.

Does putting a book in my cart reserve it for me? No, each of our unique items remains visible and available for purchase until it is actually paid for. If the same book is in more than one person’s shopping cart, the first person to pay will get the book. Other shoppers will see a message when they ‘Check Out’ asking them to delete items that are no longer available.

Why is the Cart showing sales tax for my order? Now that OUUC's online Book Nook will be OPEN '24/7' on a continuous basis, Store sales no longer qualify as a 'short term charity fund-raising event'. Note: Purchases at OUUC's annual two-day Books Brownies & Beans in-person sale event will continue to be tax-free. Our 2025 BBB sale will happen Friday & Saturday, October 24-25 at OUUC!

When do I pay for my order? Please 'Check Out' and pay securely for your order by Debit/Credit card before you leave the store. You must pay online; otherwise, the items in your cart will remain available for other shoppers to purchase and will not be available for you to pick up.

How do I pay for my order? Click on the Cart icon in the upper right corner. In your Cart, click on the red 'Check Out' button under your list of purchases. In the ‘Check Out’ page, type in your email, then click 'Continue'. Type in your Billing name and address (including a 5-digit zip code) and select how you would like to pick up your books from among the available options. You can use the Order Comments field for anything else you wish to let us know. When you 'Continue' again, the Payment section will appear for entry of your Debit/Credit card information. Then check the box indicating you agree to the Terms & Conditions and click on 'Place Order'. After the ‘Order Summary’ page appears, you will receive an email with your Order number and details. Please check your Junk/Spam folder if a 'Your Book Nook Order Confirmation' email does not appear in your inbox shortly after you pay for your order.

Can I shop on my phone? Yes, you can shop on any device you wish. However, each device will have a completely separate Book Nook shopping cart, so please Check Out and Pay for items in your current device's cart before starting to shop on a different device.

How do I find items to buy? If you are looking for a specific title or subject or know the full last name of the author, try the SEARCH option in the upper right corner of each page. If you wish to browse ALL the available products, you can click 'Shop Now' on the home page. Or you can explore the 'Books' and 'Movies & Music' category options just above the blue bar. 

Can I shop by Author? Sure! You can use the Authors menu option to display all available titles by your favorite authors and artists. Select their name from the alphabetized drop-down list then press Search. You can use the Elevator to zip down the list from "A" or you can type the beginning of the author's last name to start the selection at that point in the alphabet. Please note however, that some authors may continue to display in the list even after all their books are sold, so  you may see '0 results' New books will be added at least monthly though, so keep checking back for your favorite Authors and Titles.

What are these "Special Searches" I keep hearing about? You can search on 'PNW to find products that feature our Pacific Northwest region in some way. A search for "Signed" will display all the books that are signed by their authors (at least the ones we noticed - there might be more!). 'Justice' will display books aligned with UU values such as building community, cultural awareness, economic justice, environmental care, and anti-racism. 'Featured' will show books that were in demand by one or more on-line book buyers when we screaned the book. A search for 'Gift-Worthy' will display books that appeared to be (on quick inspection) in very nearly like new condition.

Additional searches you can try: Holiday, True-Crime, Graphic-Novel, Women, LGBTQ, L-P (for large print books), World-Language, and UU (for books about Unitarian Universalism or by UU authors). Please note that if a book title or desciption includes one of these 'Key Words', the search results will also include those books.

Can I sort the books on the screen? Initially, the books in each category and in your search results will display the most recently added books first. You can use the 'Sort By' dropdown menu (just above the first book displayed) to change the sort if you wish. Available sort options are:  'A to Z' and 'Z to A' (by book title); Price (descending) and Price (ascending). And of course, you can always return to a 'Newest Items' sort. While the books cannot be sorted by Author, you can easily use the  'Authors' menu option to search by Author. 

After I add an item to my cart, how can I get back to the page I was shopping on last? For most efficient shopping, click the Quick View or Add to Cart options in the center of each product photo, and then on the Continue Shopping button in your cart, to return to the page you were shopping. (This 'Quick View' button is not available on your cell phone. After adding an item to your Phone's cart, 'go back' twice, to return to where you were shopping last). 

How do I get my books? Unless you select a different 'Pickup Option' during Check Out, your  most recent  Paid Order(s) will be available for you to pick up from a weather-resistent box on Susan's covered front deck, usually within a couple days. Do I need to keep track of all my order numbers? No, you can shop as often as you like and we will combine all your recent purchases into one quick  pick-up for you.

Do I need any kind of an account to shop? You can shop Book Nook and check out as a Guest with no account or login required. 

Why should I sign up for OUUC community book sale updates? Please sign up, so we can send you notices about Book Nook, book donation and volunteer opportunities, and upcoming book sale fundraising events. You can Subscribe for email updates in the lower right corner of each page or when you enter your email on the Check Out page. We will not share your email or send you junk mail. If you sign up and then don't receive any 'OUUC Book Nook update' emails, please search your email for "Book Nook" to see if they went astray in your email's promotions, junk, or spam folders.

Who will benefit from this book sale? All proceeds from OUUC's online Book Nook store will be passed on to the Thurston County Food Bank - to help them "keep the shelves stocked and the lights on".

How can I make a Donation if I wish? Monetary donations to the Food Bank - beyond your purchases - are welcome and will be gratefully received. You can Click Here to make a direct donation to the Thurston County Food Bank. 

Can I return items for a refund? We are sorry, but we cannot offer refunds for purchases from this all-volunteer charity book store. The donated items you are purchasing are in Used condition and are being sold AS-IS.

Can I print my Order when I pay? Yes, there is a Print option in the upper right corner of the Order Summary on the "Thank you" page (after you check out). You will also receive an Order Confirmation email with full details of your purchases. If you don't receive the email shortly after placing your order, please look for it in your email Junk or Spam folder.

How can I donate books for OUUC books sales? OUUC’s community book sales would not be possible without your generous donations of gently used books and audiobooks. Thank you very much! We're (almost always) ready for more books! Here’s how you can donate books to OUUC: 

Donations of gently used books, audiobooks, and video DVDs for OUUC community book sales are welcome the first 7 days of each month from February through September during any daylight hours at the covered center section of Susan Dodson’s front deck (contact Susan for her address). Please do not bring book donations to the OUUC building, except for the annual October 24 & 25, 2025 Books Brownies & Beans in-person sale event, from mid-September through mid-October. And please – no musty books, magazines, encyclopedia sets, music CDs, cassettes, or VHS tapes.
