A matched set of three 2001 PB reprints of early 1900s British Victorian thrillers by Dornford Yates - all in excellent condition.

1) She Fell Among Thieves: features Richard Chandos, dashing hero extraordinaire, who seeks to rescue a young girl who has been kidnapped and drugged by a sinister old woman in the mountains of the Pyrenes. A gripping read originally published in serial form, 'She Fell Among Thieves' was a huge hit when it first appeared.

2) Fire Below: Another classic adventure story featuring Richard Chandros. This time, Chandos is aided by his friends on a mission to rescue a kidnapped young widow (who also happens to be very attractive). Filled with unforgettable characters and a highly dramatic plot, Fire Below is a classic of its genre.

3) Gale Warning: Jonathan Mansel, one of Dornford Yates' most popular characters, heads a small private organization dedicated to the detection of serious crime 'by methods sadly unavailable to the regular police'. An aristocratic member of his team is murdered and the avengers set out in pursuit of the killer, in a tale of 'violence and a measure of sublimated sex'. Caricatured villains, a page-turning plot, and some good jokes - in short, classic Yates.

From Amazon/GoodReads reviews for these 3 Dornford thrillers: "Dramatic adventure. Exciting stuff typical of a past elegant age."; "Very non-PC. 'James Bond' before James Bond. Yates does it again! Fast moving and intricate plots. The end result is never in doubt, the fascination is in the process to achieve it."; "In all his stories you can be sure it will be packed full of thrills and suspense."; "Well worth your time to read if you enjoy an old fashioned mystery with bigger than life characters like Vanity fair."; "His novels are the ultimate escapism. Good and truth will always win, and the bad guys perish. Enjoy the story."
