This book helped instill in me a sense of adventure."; "Cushman's protagonist, Lucy Whipple, provides a unique perspective on the Gold Rush, blending historical facts with a heartfelt coming-of-age story."; "This is my favorite book. I grew up reading it and I loved it. It makes me feel like I am in California and experiencing everything in the story. Love this book so much, a must read for historical fiction lovers both young and old!"
