1975 signed PB with minor wear. See the 2nd photo for the book's Table of Contents. From the Foreword: "This book is the outgrowth of a series of articles written for the Yakima Herald-Republic, telling some of the stories of the Yakima country's colorful past and leading up to the nation's bicentennial year. Articles in this series, published in the Sunday editions of the Herald-Republic, as well as others which have not been in print, make up the contents of this book. It is not intended as a history of the Yakima Valley in the conventional sense, although the stories, read in chronological order, give a general impression of the Valley's development. To me, history has always meant more than dates and yellowed records of the past in distant places. It is a living thing, a record of people, living and reacting to life around them. It is as significant in Cle Elum, Yakima or Granger as it is in Lexington or Waterloo.
Whenever possible, the stories in this book are based on accounts written by participants in the events. Sources include memoirs, newspaper articles and papers written for historical societies."
From the only review I was able to find: "Fantastic book on the history of the Yakima Valley. Maurice Helland was an excellent researcher and writer. This book on the history of Washington's Yakima Valley is EXCELLENT. It's loaded with photos and the facts are in "story format," making the entire book very readable, even by schoolchildren. Highly, highly recommend it!"
