From the back of the Book: Victoria, British Columbia is one of the west's most haunted places, and Bastion Square, in the heart of Old Town, is the centre of the city's paranormal activity. For thousands of years Aborigina people lived here; in 1843 the Hudson's Bay Company built its fort here; in 1858 it boomed with the gold rush. The ghosts of people from these distant times still linger in Bastion Square and the nearby alleys and picturesque courtyards.

John Adams is famous for his Ghostly Walks and other tours about Victoria's fascinating and colorful past. A historian, folklorist and museum professional, John is the author of three books about Victoria and British Columbia history. In 1971 as part of the Old Town Study Group he pioneered walking tours through Victoria's Old Town to help save its derelict heritage buildings from demolition. In 1987 he initiated the tour program at Ross Bay Cemetery with the Old Cemeteries Society to help combat increasing vandalism. In 2000 he founded his own tour company.
