Saving the Nisqually Delta is an inspiring drama that captures the voices of environmentalists who fought proposals to industrialize the Nisqually Delta in Washington State. The Nisqually Delta is one of the country's last unspoiled estuaries, a place where the fresh water of the Nisqually River meets the salt water of Puget Sound. Saving the Nisqually Delta also recognizes the efforts of today's preservationists, who love and care for the entire Nisqually River corridor, from its headwaters at Mount Rainier National Park to the Nisqually Reach. While several deltas in western Washington succumbed to industrialization in the early 1900s, the Nisqually Delta has survived decades of persistent threats by railroad companies, the Ports of Olympia and Tacoma, Thurston and Pierce Counties, the City of DuPont, and private developers. The year 2024 was the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. However, much still needs to be done to save the Nisqually Delta. Who will step up to save the Nisqually Delta in the future?
